Rich Results Test for JSON-LD Structured Data
Structured data is code, usually JSON-LD in a <script> tag, that tells search engines what a page contains: a product, an article, a set of FAQs, a breadcrumb trail. Valid markup can make a page eligible for rich results such as review stars or breadcrumb paths in search listings.
This test finds every JSON-LD block on a page or in pasted code, groups the items by type (Breadcrumbs, FAQ, Organisation, Product, Review snippets and so on) and marks each one valid or invalid. Items are invalid when the JSON does not parse or when a basic required property is missing, such as headline for an Article or itemListElement for a BreadcrumbList.
How to test structured data
- Choose Test URL and enter a public page, or Test code and paste HTML or raw JSON-LD.
- Click Test. The summary shows how many items were detected and whether any are invalid.
- Expand a type to see each item. The first group with problems opens automatically so you can see the issue and the code involved.
- Fix the markup in your site or CMS, then test again until every item is valid.
When to use it
- Adding new schema: check generated JSON-LD before you publish it.
- Theme and plugin updates: confirm that breadcrumb, product or article markup is still present.
- Blocked sites: paste the page source when a firewall stops the URL fetch.
Structured data tips
- Valid markup makes a page eligible for rich results, but Google decides whether to show them. Some types, such as FAQ rich results, are now shown for very few sites.
- Marked-up content must match what visitors can see on the page. Hidden or invented reviews and FAQs break Google's structured data guidelines.
- This tool checks JSON-LD and core required fields. Use Google's own Rich Results Test before launch to confirm eligibility for a specific feature.
- A single trailing comma or unescaped quote makes a whole JSON-LD block invalid. Start from generated code rather than typing it by hand.

What does the Rich Results Test do?
It scans a URL or pasted code for JSON-LD structured data, lists each schema type it finds (Breadcrumbs, Review snippets, FAQ, and more), and runs basic required-field checks so you can spot invalid items.
Why does Google’s tool work on a URL but Neemtools shows a fetch error?
Google’s tool crawls as Google-InspectionTool. Many sites allow Google but block other servers with Cloudflare/WAF. There is no public Google Rich Results Test API or API key that lets Neemtools use Google’s crawler for arbitrary URLs. Use Test code with the page source for blocked sites.
Can I paste JSON-LD only?
Yes. Switch to Test code and paste JSON-LD or full HTML. Raw JSON-LD is wrapped in a script tag for analysis.
What structured data types are detected?
Any type declared in JSON-LD is listed. Review and AggregateRating are grouped as Review snippets (like Google’s report). Neemtools also runs basic required-field checks for common types.
